Financial independence matters.

There can be no female empowerment without financial independence. Gender-based violence manifests not only in physical or sexual forms, but also in more subtle ways, such as economic violence.
This is why, for years, BPER has supported D.i.Re, the association "Women in Network Against Violence," to contribute to combating violence against women. Because women who have access to economic resources and opportunities for growth are able to significantly contribute to the well-being of their families, communities, and businesses.
When women thrive, society as a whole benefits.

Violenza economica: non se ne parla abbastanza

#Insiemeperledonne

Economic violence
A cross-cutting phenomenon that affects all socioeconomic levels, it is among the most difficult to recognize, even for its victims, because it is internalized in family education models. It can manifest itself in many forms, from wage inequality to difficulty accessing credit and a lack of professional development opportunities, and is often associated with other forms of domestic violence that prevent women from being free to choose. This phenomenon not only harms women individually, but weakens society as a whole.
Collegamento di esempio
In Italy, 37% of women do not have a current account (Episteme, 2017).
According to the latest INPS report, only 52.5% of women in Italy are employed, compared to 70.4% of men.
1 in 3 women suffers economic violence, among women who turn to anti-violence centers (D.i.re Report dati 2024).

The commitment with D.i.Re

We have been working for years with D.i.Re - Women in Network Against Violence to create a social environment where women can reach their full potential of independence, without fear of discrimination or economic violence, through financial education activities aimed at women to increase their awareness and management skills, as well as awareness-raising, dissemination, and training initiatives for our employees.
